NEW YOUTH BASKETBALL OFFERING ON WEDNESDAYS from 4:00pm-5:00pm at the JCCNS

J Adventure is excited to partner with Cohen Hillel Academy and Danvers Indoor Sports to offer a youth basketball program!  Grades K-2 and 3-8 will learn the fundamentals of the sport from 4pm-5pm on Wednesdays at the JCCNS!  Please contact J Adventure Director, Deana Filipiak at dfilipiak@jccns.com  to register and for more information.

Art-Self Portraits – REGISTER HERE 

Learn to draw various styles of self-portraits through both observation and imagination!  We will use a broad range of mediums to create a series of self-portraits worth keeping forever!  Local artist Lara Goodman will lead the way for our young artists!

Kids in Motion Hip Hop/Tumbling – REGISTER HERE 

Students will learn handstands, cartwheels, backbends, walkovers, balance and contortion tricks while learning dance moves to age-appropriate pop music. This class is great for students looking to enhance their agility, strength and flexibility while getting their groove on!

Yoga – REGISTER HERE 

Yoga for kids is a great way for your children to develop a strong and flexible body, increase balance, body awareness and coordination. Kids in Motion Hip Hop – REGISTER HERE 

This high-energy dance class teaches age-appropriate funk moves set to pop music. This class will develop your dancer’s rhythm and coordination while encouraging freedom of movement. This class is perfect for young dancers of all skill levels who will benefit from the energy, creativity and self-expression that Hip Hop offers. (Shoes: Black Sneakers)

Cursive Handwriting and Poetry – REGISTER HERE 

Children will learn and practice cursive handwriting.  Weekly, we will read children’s poems.  As a final project, each child will choose a poem to copy and illustrate in his/her own script. The poem will be framed and ready for display. 

Pre-requisite: Child should be comfortable writing in printing.

Tae Kwon Do – REGISTER HERE 

Tae Kwon Do is the popular Korean martial art known for its dynamic kicking techniques. Participants learn skills and techniques in a safe, fun environment. Each student is looked at as a unique individual and as a member of a team. The skills taught are progressive with built-in incentives for students to achieve success and maximize potential.

Beginner students are introduced to a combination of kicking and punching techniques, self-defense and forms. The training also includes mental skills that improve memorization.

Intermediate to Advanced students are challenged with more complicated mental and physical skills, including advanced forms, self-defense techniques and the study of musculoskeletal systems and the history of martial arts.

Advanced students prepare for demonstrations and competitions, including advanced self-defense techniques, forms and weapons training (Bo Staff, Kamas and Nunchuks).

A uniform and sparring equipment can be purchased and is mandatory for testing purposes. Check must be made payable to the JCCNS. Tournament participation is not mandatory.

This class is perfect for those looking to be hands on with every project!  Children are encouraged to use their creativity and imagination through a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, sculpting and paper-mâché. Young artists will create art from recycled materials, make jewelry, and will explore making blankets out of felt, flannel, T-shirts and even tape! If art is your thing, join us in an exciting art class that promotes developing one’s crafting skills in a relaxed environment!
