Dear JCCNS Members, Friends and Community,
Once again, I reach out with my sincere hope that this finds you all well and healthy.
We have missed you! We know that many members are eager to return to our JCCNS activities, and we are excited to start welcoming you back. The information below will provide some updates on various departments at the JCCNS and how we are preparing to reopen during the coming phases. Please know that these protocols and decisions have been made with the guidance set forth by Governor Baker and the local Marblehead Board of Health, as well as our own team of dedicated medical professionals on our JCCNS Board of Directors. While we still do not have definitive answers for exactly how things will open or when later-phased activities will be given the “green light,” we wanted to share with you what we are hoping for and are working toward, while things continue to evolve around us.
Things may change, depending on the progression of things in the State of Massachusetts, so please continue to check your email for messages from us, as well as JCCNS.ORG for updates. Our team has been working tirelessly over the past few months to prepare for when we can return to our programs and we appreciate your patience and support as we do our very best to continue to navigate these complicated circumstances. We are committed to providing updates regularly to clarify opening dates and guidelines as they become available to us.
I look forward to seeing you in and around the JCCNS facility!
With wishes for good health,
Marty Schneer, JCCNS Executive Director
Upon entering the JCCNS indoor and/or outdoor facilities (tennis courts excluded), we will require the following (children and adults alike):
Initially when the JCCNS is able to reopen our doors, we will be operating with limited hours, so that we can facilitate an extensive cleaning schedule in order to comply with all state and local regulations.
Our Welcome Center Associates will be protected with transparent shields, but you will still see their helpful smiling faces! They are there to help! They will also be taking phone reservations for some activities listed below. At our entrance points, JCCNS employees will be equipped with PPE, and sanitizing stations will be available for all members and staff throughout the facility.
IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO REACTIVATE A MEMBERSHIP THAT HAS BEEN PLACED ON A TEMPORARY FREEZE, PLEASE CONTACT ANDREW DALTON AT firstname.lastname@example.org.

Andrew will be available for MotionVibe tutorials this Friday, June 12th from 12:00PM- 4:00PM. (Read below for departments that will be using MotionVibe.)
Unfortunately, we are not able to open our outdoor basketball courts, our playgrounds, our indoor pool, or our gym yet. We will certainly keep you updated on these upcoming openings.
GOOD NEWS! Our tennis courts are open and available for members to play on, while adhering to these specific rules:
- Courts are open for recreational play
- No organized play such as lessons or leagues
- Singles and doubles play: only players from the same household allowed on the court
- No social gathering: players waiting to utilize a court should wait outside the courts gate until the previous players have vacated the court.
- Sanitize often: players should sanitize hands before and after play. Please do not share equipment. Wipe down and sanitize equipment including racquets, balls, and water bottles.
- Face covering: wear a face covering when you can’t maintain a 6ft separation from others. Please wear one when entering and exiting the courts.
- Social Distancing: minimum 6 foot social distancing required.
Like Massachusetts, we will be opening our pool in phases so that we can see how the process runs. Our first phase will open to lap swimmers (age 12 and over ONLY) beginning on June 15th, with pre-registered, one-hour time slots available via computer at MotionVibe.com OR via phone by calling (781) 631-8330. More information on this reservation system will be sent later this week.
We will be offering SIX open lap lanes, with one swimmer per lane. Each time slot can be booked one day in advance, and each member is allowed one booking per day. No personal swim equipment (kick-boards, fins, etc.) is allowed, with the exception of goggles or snorkels. We are encouraging swimmers to shower before coming to the pool, as our only available shower will be the one on our pool deck. Restrooms will be available (limited capacity) by the pool, but CANNOT be used for changing. Swimmers should arrive in their suit and leave in their suit. For our second phase, we are hoping to open our outdoor pool to families around June 27 for pre-booked time slots throughout the afternoons, evening and weekend hours. Pool hours will be limited and overall pool capacity will be limited, as regulated by the state and local Board of Health.
We are excited to welcome back our Early Childhood families and community members for summer childcare. We will be offering toddler and young preschool childcare for those 15 months – 3.5 years old in our Early Childhood classrooms, with two options for hours: 9:00AM -1:00PM OR 9:00AM-3:00PM. Participants MUST attend Monday-Friday, and must register for A MINIMUM of 2 weeks. Children will go through a daily health screening before entering the building and staff will escort the children safely inside (parents are not permitted to enter the building.) For this process to work, we will have staggered drop off times for all families. Specific pricing, discounts and guidelines will be available in the near future. Please contact Stephanie Walsh at firstname.lastname@example.org to register or for additional information.
Right now, we are working toward opening camp on July 6th and running through August 21st! Due to new state and local restrictions, summer camp will look different than in years past, but we are committed to providing a fun and enriching experience to our campers. Campers will, of course, go through a health and safety screening process before entering camp and will need to have all applicable paperwork in before they can begin camp.
Due to regulations, we will not be able to offer pizza lunch, KinderCamp Enrichment programs, early or late extended care, or transportation to/from Peabody this year. Please know that things continue to change, nearly daily, but we will keep you posted on any changes to our camp planning as we become aware of them. You may register now at jccns.org/summer-camp/.
We are thrilled to announce that we WILL offer KinderCamp programming from 9:00AM-1:00PM, Monday-Friday. Please note that every camper must be enrolled for the entire week. Campers may register for as many or as few weeks as they like. All registered campers must be potty-trained. Capacity for camp groups will be limited, and all state and local day camp guidelines will be followed. You may reach out to KinderCamp Director, Heather Greenberg at email@example.com for additional information or with questions.
We are hopeful that Camp Simchah will also run for the same July 6th-August 21st dates and that we can maintain our typical camp hours of 9:00AM-4:00PM. Since Camp Simchah typically utilizes indoor spaces at both the JCCNS and EHS, we are still in the process of working out the details for indoor space capacity and usage, however we are hopeful that we will be able to create a schedule that allows for camp to run! As with KinderCamp, campers may register for as many or as few weeks as they like. Staggered drop-off times will be assigned so that campers can arrive while maintaining social distancing. Capacity for camp groups will be limited and all state and local day camp guidelines will be followed. You may reach out to Camp Simchah Director, Jessie Stephens at firstname.lastname@example.org for additional information or with questions.
