Taught by Izzi Abrams
Join Izzi Abrams for a course on the life and legacy of the prolific author, Philip Roth. Roth, who died in 2018, wrote 27 novels including Goodbye Columbus and Portnoy’s Complaint and was a central and controversial figure in American fiction for over 50 years.
This course will focus on two of his later novels, The Plot Against America, a work of alternate history in which Charles Lindbergh becomes president of the United States and Nemesis, a novel that focuses on the outbreak of a polio epidemic in Newark, NJ in the 1940’s.
Please read the first 100 pages of The Plot Against America by the first class.
