The Supreme Court is the most popular branch of government, and its authority comes from public acceptance of its decisions. As the Court prepares to hear cases on “culture war” issues like guns and abortion this term, will its rulings reflect public opinion or deviate from it? What will happen if the Court’s rulings are out of step with the country?
