Hear from local author and JCCNS member Phyllis Karas\, a New York Times bestselling author and journalist\, as she explores the haunting true story of the Blumenthal family in The Curse of the Blumenthals. Spanning three generations\, the Blumenthals’ story begins with a Jewish immigrant family that builds a life in Providence and Boston\, survives Prohibition\, and finds itself forever changed by tragedy. In 1935\, six family members\, including three children\, are killed by a drunk driver. Years later\, the family’s “golden child\,” Ronnie Blumenthal\, is arrested for murder. Decades later\, Karas begins uncovering the long-hidden secrets\, unanswered questions\, and generational trauma surrounding the tragedy. What emerges is a gripping story of crime\, loss\, family\, and ultimately\, the possibility of breaking a terrible cycle of secrets. Join us for an afternoon of true crime\, fascinating family history\, and a remarkable story of secrets uncovered eventually leading to much needed healing across generations. In conversation with Doug Grad\, founder and President of the Doug Grad Literary Agency. Includes book sale\, signing\, and bagels. \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Get Tickets URL:https://jccns.org/event/phyllis-karas-curse-of-the-blumenthals/ LOCATION:JCCNS\, 4 Community Rd.\, Marblehead\, MA\, 01945 CATEGORIES:JBM ATTACH;FMTTYPE=image/png:https://jccns.org/wp-content/uploads/2026/09/JBM-2026-11-01-Phyllis-Karas-web.png ORGANIZER;CN="Lauren Weiss":MAILTO:lweiss@jccns.com END:VEVENT END:VCALENDAR
