DESCRIPTION:In conversation with Shelley Sackett\, member of the Boston Theater Critics Association\, freelance journalist\, divorce mediator\, and former editor of Jewish Journal. \nCarole King’s extraordinary career has defined American popular music for more than half a century. Born in New York City in 1942\, Carole shaped the soundtrack of 1960s teen culture with such iconic songs as “Will You Love Me Tomorrow\,” one of many classics she wrote with her first husband\, Gerry Goffin. She was a leading figure in the singer-songwriter movement of the 1970s\, with dozens of Billboard Hot 100 hits and music awards—her 1971 album Tapestry won a record four Grammy awards. Yet Carole struggled to reconcile her fame with her roles as a wife and mother and eventually retreated to the backwoods of Idaho\, only to emerge in recent years as a political activist and the subject of the Tony-winning Broadway show Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. The installation sets out to recreate a festival dedicated to peace and love that was savagely cut short by a terrorist attack on that fateful day\, the largest massacre in music history. This groundbreaking installation is presented as a way to empower visitors to responsibly explore and bear witness to the tragic events of October 7 and its aftermath. \nCost: $54\, includes travel in a coach bus from the Shirat Hayam\, ticket to the 2:00PM exhibition time slot\, and live testimony from a Nova festival survivor. \nDeadline to register is Monday\, October 20th.
