Sea Serpent Swim Team

Your kids will love competitive swimming in our fun, supportive family environment. We compete in both dual meets throughout the year and USA Swimming. Payment will begin at registration and will continue to be charged on the 3rd of every month from September to June for 10 months which covers the cost of the team for the entire 2018-2019 season. For USA swimmers the fee includes all meet entry costs and registration with USA Swimming. All swimmers must be a  JCCNS member.

Fall Swim Team practices will begin on September 12.


Junior

Juniors is a fun introduction to the world of competitive swimming for our youngest swimmers, primarily ages 9 and under. Juniors concentrate on the fundamentals, inspiring a love for swimming, rules & regulations, technique and stroke development with the goal of completing a legal 100 Individual Medley. Juniors train 2 days a week and have the opportunity to compete in dual meets throughout the year.

Juniors Requires the ability to complete four lengths of the pool Freestyle with rotary breathing, demonstrated basic knowledge of Backstroke, Breaststroke and a Dolphin Kick. Strokes do not need to be legal.

USA C

USA C is our second level of our program primarily for swimmers ages 8-11 years old. USA C swimmers focus on developing stroke techniques by using stroke drill progressions, gaining aerobic capacity through Kicking, and demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork. USA C swimmers train 3 days a week and participate in USA swim meets and dual meets throughout the year.

USA C requires the ability to complete a legal 100 Individual Medley and 200 Freestyle.

USA B

USA B is our intermediate competitive level, primarily for swimmers ages 10-13. Swimmers at this level continue to work on stroke development with a special focus on starts and turns, and increasing aerobic development through a progressive increase in yardage and intensity. USA B swimmers are challenged to transfer their technical developments into competition. Goals include: developing and executing racing strategy, demonstrating sportsmanship and teamwork, and increased practice skills. Dryland training is introduced at this level, focusing on injury prevention and basic athleticism. Swimmers train 3-4 days a week and participate in USA swim meets and dual meets throughout the year.

USA B requires sound technique, work ethic and the ability to swim 200 yards Freestyle in less than three minutes, 200 Individual Medley in less than three minutes thirty seconds and to complete 6×100 FR on 1:45. Minimum age to participate is 9.

USA A

USA A is the final phase of our Age Group program primarily for swimmers ages 12-15. Continued focus on stroke refinement with an increase in commitment and progressive endurance training. High attendance levels are expected to ensure advancement to the next level. Goal setting and attaining high levels of competition are strongly encouraged at this level. Swimmers are required to train a minimum of four times a week to maintain group memberhip, and are required to participate in the highest-level USA championship meet in which they qualify. Swimmers attend dryland and Yoga focused on injury prevention, flexibility and body weight strength training.

USA A requires a dedication to the sport, exceptional technique and the ability to swim 500 yards Freestyle in less than seven minutes, 200 Individual Medley in less than three minutes and to complete 6×100 FR on 1:30. Minimum age to participate is 11.

USA Senior

With a focus on bringing the benefits of technical emphasis and a progressive workload together, USA Senior has an increased expectation in the areas of commitment, training capacity and leadership for swimmers primarily ages 14+. Swimmers participate in a progressive dryland program focused on strength training and injury prevention. Swimmers are required to practice a minimum of five days a week to maintain group memberhip and are required to participate in the highest-level USA Championship meet in which they qualify for.

USA Senior requires a dedication to the sport, a year round commitment to training, exceptional qualities as a team role model and leader, 200 Individual Medley in less than 2 minutes and 40 seconds and complete 6×200 FR on 2:40. Minimum age to participate is 13.
