Update on COVID-19 - JCCNS, Jewish Community Center of the North Shore

Update on COVID-19

3/17/2020

Dear JCCNS Members, Community, and Staff,

On behalf of everyone at the JCCNS, our hearts go out to all those impacted by COVID-19 — this includes not only those diagnosed with the virus, but also their friends and family, those whose jobs and schools have been impacted and so many more. Our focus is, as always, on the health and safety of our employees, members and community.

This local and global situation is changing rapidly, and to do our part in slowing the spread of the virus, the JCCNS will now be closed through April 7th, until further notice. We realize this creates a great deal of uncertainty for everyone, but please know that we are working daily to come up with solutions to make this difficult time easier for our staff and members. Please check our JCCNS Facebook page regularly for at-home fitness videos, activities for kids, etc. Our staff are diligently working to stay in touch and to provide ways for us to remain connected during this time.

We realize the impact this closure can have on our employees, and please be assured that this is not a decision we made lightly.

There is no question this is a time of great uncertainty. As always, we appreciate your dedication to the longevity of the JCCNS, and we will continue to provide updates as we have them.

With thanks for your loyalty,

Executive Director, Marty Schneer, and the JCCNS Leadership Team

Dear JCCNS Friends, Members, Community, and Staff,

First and foremost, we hope this message finds everyone healthy and well.

After another day of careful consideration of the circumstances surrounding our community, and taking into consideration the demographics of people that we serve, we have decided that we will close the JCCNS for two weeks, with the hopes of re-opening on Saturday, March 28th (pending further review, of course.)

During this time, the JCCNS will be thoroughly cleaned multiple times, and all surfaces will be sanitized.

This closure includes ALL activities and programs at the JCCNS:

  • Our Early Childhood Center
  • Fitness
  • Personal Training
  • J Adventure Afterschool Program
  • J Swim Academy
  • Sea Serpent, L’il Lochs, and Olympic Way Swim Teams
  • All pool classes, lessons and activities
  • All extracurricular activities, classes, and programs
  • All cultural events, lectures, programs

We will be in touch via email, Facebook, and Instagram with activities that you can do at home, so please check frequently for at-home ideas and updates.

Our Leadership Team and Directors will be working remotely over the next two weeks, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any issues or questions.

Please know that we did not take this decision lightly and we know this impacts all of our daily lives. However, we believe this was certainly the necessary decision, given the state of the COVID-19 crisis we are facing.

Thank you for your understanding and your patience,

The JCCNS Leadership
