Dr. Brandy Shufutinsky, the Director of Education and Community Engagement at the Jewish Institute for Liberal Values, is a social worker, writer, researcher, and advocate who focuses on developing intercultural and academic opportunities to enhance liberal democratic ideals. She holds a doctorate in international and multicultural education from the University of San Francisco, a masters in social work from the University of Southern California, and a masters in international relations from the University of San Diego. Dr. Shufutinsky’s writings also include perspectives from raising her own Black, Russian, Jewish family. Her husband is a US Navy veteran, and her oldest son served in the IDF as a lone soldier. Her second oldest works in Israel as the rapper known as Westside Gravy, and her two younger children attend Jewish day school here in the US.
