Infant Toddler and Preschool Teachers

Job Description:
We are looking for energetic, positive outlook, caring, Certified Early Childhood teachers with a genuine passion for educating children and who are comfortable in taking ownership over curriculum. Strong communication skills are required as parent communication is an essential part of the job.

As a JCCNS Early Childhood Teacher your responsibilities are:

  • Establish and maintain a safe, nurturing, clean and well organized environment.
  • Establish positive and strong relationships with parents and children.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism in the classroom as well as with your co-workers.
  • Develop and implement strong and creative classroom curriculum based upon weekly lesson plans.
  • Provide open communication with families to encourage each child’s growth and development

Lead Teacher candidates must have: 

  • EEC Lead Teacher Infant and Toddler Certification
  • CPR/First Aid Certificate

Are you motivated, energetic, creative AND enjoy working with children? The JCCNS
J Adventure After-School Program is currently seeking qualified individuals to work with children at our after school programs for this school year. Located in Marblehead, our award-winning program serves children between the ages of 5 and 12 years. Our J Adventure Program hours of operation are 2:00-6:00PM, Monday through Friday. (We can be flexible with scheduling if you are only available a few hours/days a week!)

J Adventure Supervisor

Responsibilities:

  • Under the supervision of the Youth and Family Director, the J Adventure Supervisor plans, coordinates and provides supervision of the J Adventure program to ensure quality services which provide growth in social emotional development and health and wellness
  • The J Adventure Supervisor conducts him/herself in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner and is a role model for colleagues and staff as well as for program families
  • When needed, helps the program staff plan and implement classroom curricula that provide growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development
  • Adheres to EEC licensing standards, and creates an inclusive culture
  • Communicates information to parents and community networks
  • Keeps safety of children as first priority; emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with the children, parents, and early education staff
  • Uses positive and constructive methods of child and staff guidance, while ensuring that all staff does the same
  • Ensures the development, maintenance, and quality of the program, consistent with the JCCNS’s mission and philosophy – including assisting with the daily schedules of staff, curriculum, supervision, staff meetings, and special events
  • Addresses behavioral concerns of the participants with 3 levels

After-School Counselor

Job duties include: planning of daily activities, participation in activities and assisting with supervision of children.

Requirements: Experience working with large groups of children in a recreational setting. Candidates must be age 16+ and have the maturity, enthusiasm and commitment needed to work with children.

COVID-19 considerations: Staff must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and are mandated to wear a mask inside our facility.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $14-$17/hour, based on experience

Lead Bus Monitor

  • Act as contact for other monitors during transportation
  • Communicate any transportation issues with Youth and Family Director and schools
  • Follow all policies/procedures for J Adventure transportation/bus monitors


Lead Counselor

  • Adhere to policies and procedures during program
  • Prepare room before departing on bus
  • Lead a classroom upon arrival and throughout shift
  • Maintain accurate attendance and current participant counts
  • Facilitate interactions between participants
  • Be sure participant needs are met/ Ensure safety of all participants
  • Address behavioral concerns in classrooms
  • Communicate daily information effectively and positively with participants’ families
  • Oversee participant sign out process
  • Communicate any updates/needs with staff throughout shift
  • Maintain confidentiality of all participants
  • Clean up/close room at end of shift.

We are looking to hire part-time Swim Instructor. We are looking for a high energy, dedicated individual to support our growing membership community.

Description:
Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, this position is responsible for teaching swim lessons under the USA model. Swim Instructors should have experience teaching swim lessons and enjoy working with people, especially children as many lesson opportunities are with children. We will train the right candidates.

 

  • Provide excellent member service by exceeding member expectations.
  • Report on the deck 10 minutes before the scheduled shift dressed in a bathing suit.
  • Have equipment ready before your class and store it promptly after your class. Make good use of available equipment, pool space, and personal resources.
  • All instructors must start and end classes on time.
  • Agree to teach for an entire session. Absenteeism MUST be kept to a minimum.
  • Communicate child’s progress with parents on an ongoing basis, not just when handing out progress reports.
  • Know and implement any and all emergency procedures.
  • Maintain control and safety of the class. Keep a watchful eye on everyone in the class. All children in flotation should always be within arm’s reach, and never turn your back on a class.
  • Maintain a clear and consistent line of communication with all supervisors.
  • Attend all required monthly and yearly in-service trainings
  • Engage in active listening with members in order to build relationships, understand each individual’s goals and interests and take the initiative to assist in the achievement of those goals.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
At least 16 years of age
Maintaining classroom setting
Knowledge of proper stroke technique
Able to work with child/adult with special needs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
Shifts vary, but may include afternoons, nights, and weekends

Description:

The JCCNS Aquatics Department seeks to hire experienced, certified lifeguards.

The best suited candidate would be someone with high energy and excited to support our growing membership community. Under the supervision of the Aquatics Manager, this position is responsible for the safety of swimmers, program participants, and patrons using the pools, and will serve as a representative of the JCCNS by providing quality customer service, while meeting our high-level of standard and expectations.

 

Morning Lifeguard
Hours: 5:00am-8:00am

Part-time lifeguard:
Hours: Weekday afternoons and weekends
Ages 16 and up

Full-time Lifeguard:
Hours: 8:00am-3:00m

Lifeguard Job Requirements, Responsibilities, and Expectations:

  • Supervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensure all policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followed
  • Arrive 10 minutes before the assigned shift
  • Test pool chemistry every 4 hours
  • Ability to swim down 12.5 feet deep
  • Warn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforce pool regulations and water safety policies
  • Administer first aid in the event of injury, rescue swimmers in distress or danger of drowning, and administer CPR and/or artificial respiration, if/when necessary
  • Evaluate conditions for safety at the pool and initiate aquatics emergency action plan as required
  • Inspect pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usable
  • Supervise and assist in cleaning the pool and related facilities and equipment
  • Assist with chlorine residual water tests and with records/charts of water tests, adding chemicals to pool water, as directed by supervisor
  • Resolve scheduling conflicts to ensure a safe pool environment when competing programs/priorities require simultaneous use of aquatic facilities

Lifeguard Qualifications / Skills:

  • Knowledge and ability to evaluate water conditions at JCCNS aquatics facilities, determine any potential dangers or hazards
  • Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff
  • Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and potential threats to safety
  • Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 6 months of related work experience
  • At least 18 years or older
  • Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate or equivalent

REQUIRED TRAINING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Lifeguard, CPR, First Aid, AED (will train)

General Information

The JCCNS Sea Serpents is a young, fast growing year-round USA Swim team with approximately 100 swimmers, which includes a Pre-Team, Special Olympics Practice Group, and a summer league team. These past few seasons we had multiple top ten swimmers, three zone qualifiers, and two Sectional Qualifiers.

Position Qualifications:

  • Experience as a competitive swimmer, preferably at a collegiate level;
  • Experience working with kids ranging in age from 5 to 18;
  • Knowledge of proper stroke technique and progressions;
  • USA Swimming Coach Certification or willing to obtain before first swim meet;
  • Prior experience coaching and/or teaching swimming;
  • Willing to train the right candidate

In conjunction with the head coach, this position will be responsible for overseeing our 13& under age group practice groups as well as assisting with our Pre Senior and Senior Groups. Planning practices and attending weekend swim meets when assigned will also be required.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Write and plan practices in conjunction with the head coach;
  • Assist our development coaches (alongside the head coach) with practice planning;
  • Act as a lead coach for two practice groups and assist with the Senior Groups;
  • Assist head coach with swim team administration;
  • Act as a role model with professionalism and integrity at all times;
  • Continue to improve teaching and coaching skills;
  • Attend both home and away weekend swim meets when assigned;
  • Attend travel trips acting as both coach and chaperone with assignments such as managing food and transportation
