LIT Program - JCCNS, Jewish Community Center of the North Shore
Leader in Training - Juniors entering grades 8-9 and Seniors entering grade 10
For campers entering grades 8-10

Our Leaders-in-Training (LITs) are entering 8th, 9th, or 10th grades. The Summer at the J Leader-in-Training program follows the experiential learning model by providing instruction and support in goal-setting, communication, team-building, personal and group challenge and growth, while assisting pre-teens and teens in their own leadership development. The Summer at the J LIT program has two main components: Junior LITs  (entering grades 8 or 9) and Senior LITs (entering grade 10).

Dmietri Finelli, J Adventure Supervisor at the JCCNS, will be leading the LIT program in the summer of 2022. Over the past two years, Dmietri has enjoyed his time working with our elementary-aged J Adventure participants during the school year and is very excited to use his expertise this summer working with our Summer at the J LIT teens after having been a specialist at Camp Simchah last summer.

As we know, leadership is a honed skill and is best learned when working within a team. Our LIT Program participants will first learn a bit about each other through ice breakers and will then explore the important life skills of group leadership in everyday tasks around Camp Simchah. They will participant in skill-building sessions with Dmietri as well as our Camp Leadership team, and will have a chance to explore their own interests in our summer camp environment. Our LIT Program offers “Experiential Education” at it’s finest and participants will leave with a greater sense of self and their own leadership ability.
