League Rules
- Each team captain must register their team in FULL to be added to their desired division. Confirmation emails to be sent once a team is added.
Players / Rosters
- Each team must designate one representative (captain) to fulfill the leadership and communication role with both their team and the JCCNS Staff.
- 3on3 teams may carry a roster of 4 players. All players must be at least 17 years of age. All Divisions have either age or level of play requirement.
- No non-rostered players will be allowed to participate, except by special approval of the league commissioner.
Note: At any time, the JCCNS commissioner may allow permanent changes to a team roster if that team would otherwise not be able to field enough players each week due to injury, illness, players moving or other special circumstances. The JCCNS commissioner may also choose to deny a team’s request if the addition of a replacement player would significantly improve a team’s level of play.
Play:
- Play will begin at promptly scheduled time.
- Games will be played on ½ of the court but shooting on the main basket.
- Score will be kept on the electronic game scoreboard.
- Players can score 1, 2, 3 – point shots. 1-point shots are on or inside the main “3 point arc”. 2-point shots are fully outside the main “3 point arc” but not in 3on3 area. A designated THREE Point area will be designated on the court.
- Statistics will be logged on the official scoring sheets.
- Each game will consist of one 12-minute game. For weeks 1 and 2 each team will play three 12 minute games in their division.
- The ball to be “checked” after each made basket or balls out of bounds.
- Running time will be used with stop time during the last 2 minutes of each game. Time does not stop after a basket, on whistles only.
- Overtime does not apply in the first two weeks. In the playoffs, a 2-minute overtime will be used to determine a winner if needed. Repeated overtimes will be played until there is a winner.
- In overtimes, stop time is used only in the last one minute of play. Time does not stop after a basket, on whistles only.
Winning a game:
Weeks 1 and 2, first team to 21 points or 12 minutes expires on the clock. There can be ties in the regular season. Week 3, winner will be first team to 27 points or 15 minutes expires on the clock.
Time Outs:
Each team will be allotted 1 timeout, in each 12 minute game. If a playoff game goes to overtime each will be given an additional time out. Time outs do not carry over.
Fouls
- Each player gets 5 fouls. The fouled player gets 1 foul shot for the amount of the shot taken.
- All fouls (including double and technical fouls) will be counted into the player statistics.
- If a player is assessed with a technical foul the opposing team will get two one – point shots.
- If a player receives two technical fouls that player will be ineligible for the team’s next game and must leave the gym.
- The number of team fouls accumulated at the end of regulation will be carried over in the event of overtime.
- During a foul shot, players can move on the release of the ball from the shooter.
- Each player is allowed five personal fouls. If a team does not have a sub, a player is ineligible to continue playing after their fifth personal foul.
- The sixth and any further personal fouls will result in two shot technical foul without receiving the ball back.
Substitutions
- A team may substitute only on dead ball situations (after a free throw is made, a whistle is blown, or a time-out).
- When substituting, the substituting player must inform the score keeper that they will be entering the game and then wait for the horn and official to motion them onto the court.
- Repeated failure to wait for this signal (illegal substitution) will result in a team technical foul.
Forfeits
- A team may compete with a minimum of 2 players for 3 on 3 games.
- A referee may call a game before time is up to ensure safety and to avoid altercations between teams.
- Forfeits will affect a team’s seeding for the playoffs.
Conduct
- Hanging on rims or nets – This situation will result in a technical foul, and may result in immediate ejection from the game, pending discretion of the official.
- The referee’s call is FINAL.
- There is an automatic one-game suspension for anyone who is thrown out of a game. This includes the accumulation of two technical fouls in one game.
Playoffs
- Week 3 of the league will be the playoffs. There will be two rounds of 15 – minute games. The first round in each division will be Seed 1 vs Seed 4 and Seed 2 vs Seed 3. Winners play for the Championships and losers play for third place.
- Seeding for the Playoffs will be determined first by record. If teams have identical records at the end of the season, the following tiebreaker rules apply (in order):
